From Library Instruction Wiki

A question for the cool wiki club: when it comes to the links to class webpages, has there been discussion of archives for older pages? Our pages tend to stay on the server indefininetly (we just remove the links from the class page portal), but if this 'sharing' concept catches on, do we have a thought for storage space? I realize this involves $$ and complexicates the works a good deal, but since I'm facing losing access to a wheel-barrow full of class pages, I was curious if this had been discussed. - Nick

I don't see any reason you couldn't upload the page to the wiki...it's fine with me. i doubt that server space will be a big issue any time soon, i'll check with jason to confirm.-rachel

What about handouts or other items that are not in HTML? Should we ask people to put them on a server and include a link, or is there another option? -- amd

hmm...well this thing will let you upload images...and i can add allowable file extensions...like i could include .rtf or something. but i would worry about nefarious activities at a certain point. i think it would probably be better if people hosted their own files. Of course, any doc could be turned into a wiki doc by the person....does that make sense? --rb

That was where I came down on it as well but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. It's hard, because sharing handouts is one thing that most people say they want to do, but those kinds of links tend to end up being broken at some point. -- amd

That seems to be the crux of the issue, the thing most people want is rather difficult to provide. Perhaps if needs arise we could put up some ht docs on posting handouts that will suffice. -- nick
