Embedded assessment

Measuring student learning of a skill or concept by embedding a task or idea in a regular classroom assignment not directly related to the skill or concept being measured.

For example, a set of papers completed for a sociology class could also provide an opportunity to assess how well students have learned how to cite electronic resources appropriately for that discipline.
